Yaḥyā ibn Mūsā narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Isrāʾīl informed us: Simāk ibn Ḥarb informed me that he heard Jābir ibn Samurah say: The caller to prayer for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would wait and would not call the iqāmah until he saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) come out. When he saw him, he would call the iqāmah for prayer. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Jābir ibn Samurah is hasan sahih. We know the report of Isrāʾīl from Simāk only through this route. Some scholars said that the caller has greater authority over the adhān, and the imam has greater authority over the iqāmah.
