Ishaq ibn Musa al-Ansari narrated to us: Ma‘n narrated to us: Malik narrated to us. He said: Qutaybah narrated to us from Malik, from al-Zuhri, from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi, from Abu Sa‘id, who said: The Messenger of Allah said: ‘When you hear the call to prayer, say as the caller says.’
Abu Isa said: Reports on this subject are also related from Abu Rafi, Abu Hurayrah, Umm Habibah, Abd Allah ibn Amr, Abd Allah ibn Rabi‘ah, A’ishah, Mu‘adh ibn Anas, and Mu‘awiyah. The hadith of Abu Sa‘id is hasan sahih. Ma‘mar and more than one transmitter narrated from al-Zuhri a report like Malik’s. Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq narrated this hadith from al-Zuhri, from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet. Malik’s narration is more sound.
