حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، عَنِ الْوَليِدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، قَالَ لاِبْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَىُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَنْهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ " الصَّلاَةُ عَلَى مَوَاقِيتِهَا " . قُلْتُ وَمَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ " . قُلْتُ وَمَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ " وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَقَدْ رَوَى الْمَسْعُودِيُّ وَشُعْبَةُ وَسُلَيْمَانُ هُوَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ .

Qutaybah narrated to us: Marwān ibn Muʿāwiyah al-Fazārī narrated to us, from Abū Yaʿfūr, from al-Walīd ibn al-ʿAyzār, from Abū ʿAmr al-Shaybānī, that a man asked Ibn Masʿūd, “Which deed is best?” He said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about that, and he replied, “Prayer at its appointed times.” I said, “Then what, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Kindness to one’s parents.” I said, “Then what, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “Striving in the path of Allah.” Abū ʿĪsā said: This hadith is hasan sahih. Al-Masʿūdī, Shuʿbah, Sulaymān (Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī), and more than one other narrator also reported this hadith from al-Walīd ibn al-ʿAyzār.
