حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ، عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْفَلاَّسُ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ أَبُو غَسَّانَ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْمِنْبَرَ حَنَّ الْجِذْعُ حَتَّى أَتَاهُ فَالْتَزَمَهُ فَسَكَنَ " . قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ وَأُبَىِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ هُوَ بَصْرِيٌّ وَهُوَ أَخُو أَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَلاَءِ .

Abu Hafs Amr ibn Ali al-Fallas al-Sayrafi told us: Uthman ibn Umar and Yahya ibn Kathir Abu Ghassan al-Anbari told us, both saying: Muadh ibn al-Ala told us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deliver sermons while leaning against a tree trunk. When the Prophet had a pulpit made, the trunk moaned until he came to it and embraced it, whereupon it became quiet. Reports on this subject are also related from Anas, Jabir, Sahl ibn Sad, Ubayy ibn Kab, Ibn Abbas, and Umm Salamah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Ibn Umar is hasan gharib sahih. Muadh ibn al-Ala was from Basra and was the brother of Abu Amr ibn al-Ala.
