Muhammad ibn Bashshar told us: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us: Sufyan told us, from al-Aghar ibn al-Sabbah, from Khalifah ibn Husayn, from Qays ibn Asim, that when he accepted Islam, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed him to perform a ritual bath with water and lotus leaves. A report on this subject is also related from Abu Hurayrah. Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan; we know it only through this route. Scholars acted upon it and considered it recommended for a man who accepts Islam to perform a ritual bath and wash his clothes.
