Muhammad bin Abdul-Ala narrated to us: Imran bin Uyaynah narrated to us (he was the brother of Sufyan bin Uyaynah), from Husain, from Salim bin Abi Al-Jad, from Abu Umamah and other Companions of the Prophet, from the Prophet (ﷺ), who said: “Any Muslim man who frees a Muslim man will have thereby secured his own release from the Fire: each of the freed man limbs will ransom one of his limbs. Any Muslim man who frees two Muslim women will have thereby secured his own release from the Fire: each of their limbs will ransom one of his limbs. And any Muslim woman who frees a Muslim woman will have thereby secured her own release from the Fire: each of the freed woman limbs will ransom one of her limbs.” Abu Isa said: This hadith is Hasan Sahih Gharib through this route. He added that the hadith indicates that, for men, freeing male slaves is more virtuous than freeing female slaves, based on the wording about a man who frees a Muslim man, which says that each of his limbs will ransom one of the man limbs.
