Qutaybah told us: al-Layth told us, from Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Iyad ibn Abdullah, from Abu Said al-Khudri, who said: A man suffered a loss during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in fruit that he had purchased, and his debt grew large. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘Give charity to him.’ The people gave charity to him, but it did not cover his debt. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then said to his creditors: ‘Take what you find; you are entitled to nothing beyond that.’ Related reports are narrated from Aishah, Juwayriyah, and Anas. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Abu Said is hasan sahih.
