Qutaybah told us: al-Layth told us, from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi, from Said ibn Yasar, who heard Abu Hurayrah say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘Whenever someone gives charity from good and lawful earnings—and Allah accepts only what is good and lawful—the Most Merciful takes it in His right hand. Even if it is a single date, it grows in the palm of the Most Merciful until it becomes greater than a mountain, just as one of you raises a young horse or camel.’ Related reports are narrated from Aishah, Adi ibn Hatim, Anas, Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, Harithah ibn Wahb, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, and Buraydah. Abu Isa said: The hadith of Abu Hurayrah is hasan sahih.
