To What Extent The Izar Should Be Let Down
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍيَأْتَزِرُ فَيَضَعُ حَاشِيَةَ إِزَارِهِ مِنْ مُقَدَّمِهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمَيْهِ وَيَرْفَعُ مِنْ مُؤَخَّرِهِ . قُلْتُ لِمَ تَأْتَزِرُ هَذِهِ الإِزْرَةَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْتَزِرُهَا .
Translation
Ikrimah said that he saw Ibn Abbas putting on lower garment, letting the hem on the top of his foot and raising it behind. He said
Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) do it.
