Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَرَأَ { وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَا أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ وَالْعَيْنُ بِالْعَيْنِ } .
Translation
Nasr ibn ʿAli narrated to us: my father narrated to us: ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us: Yunus ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Abu ʿAli ibn Yazid, from al-Zuhri, from Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: ‘We prescribed for them therein: a life for a life, and an eye for an eye.’
