Translation

Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Musaddad narrated to us—the meaning is the same. Ahmad said: Yahya al-Qattan narrated to me, from ʿUbayd Allah, who said: Nafiʿ narrated to me, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “When the supper of one of you is served and the prayer is established, do not get up until you have finished.” Musaddad added: When ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar had his supper served or brought to him, he would not get up until he had finished, even if he heard the call to prayer announcing its establishment, or heard the imam reciting.
