Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رضى الله عنها قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ تَقْطَعُوا اللَّحْمَ بِالسِّكِّينِ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ صَنِيعِ الأَعَاجِمِ وَانْهَسُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَهْنَأُ وَأَمْرَأُ " . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَلَيْسَ هُوَ بِالْقَوِيِّ .
Translation
Saʿid ibn Mansur narrated to us: Abu Maʿshar narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿAishah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not cut meat with a knife, for that is the practice of non-Arabs. Gnaw it, for that is more pleasant and more wholesome.” Abu Dawud said: This report is not strong.
