ʿAmr ibn ʿUthman narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Harb narrated to us: Abu Salamah—Sulayman ibn Sulaym—narrated to me, from Salih ibn Yahya ibn al-Miqdam, from his grandfather al-Miqdam ibn Maʿdikarib, from Khalid ibn al-Walid, who said: I campaigned with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Khaybar. The Jews came and complained that people had rushed to their animal enclosures. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Know that the property of treaty-protected people is not lawful except by right. Domestic donkeys, horses, mules, every beast of prey with fangs, and every bird with talons are forbidden to you.”
