Sunan Abi Dawud 3814
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَوَّامِ الْجَزَّارِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سُئِلَ فَقَالَ مِثْلَهُ فَقَالَ " أَكْثَرُ جُنْدِ اللَّهِ " . قَالَ عَلِيٌّ اسْمُهُ فَائِدٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا الْعَوَّامِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَوَّامِ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يَذْكُرْ سَلْمَانَ .
Nasr ibn ʿAli and ʿAli ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, saying: Zakariyya ibn Yahya ibn ʿUmarah narrated to us, from Abu al-ʿAwwam al-Jazzar, from Abu ʿUthman al-Nahdi, from Salman: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked and gave a similar answer, saying: “The most numerous of the troops of Allah.” ʿAli said: His name was Faʾid—that is, the name of Abu al-ʿAwwam. Abu Dawud said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated it from Abu al-ʿAwwam, from Abu ʿUthman, from the Prophet ﷺ, without mentioning Salman.
