Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ نُصَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْكُلُ الْبِطِّيخَ بِالرُّطَبِ فَيَقُولُ " نَكْسِرُ حَرَّ هَذَا بِبَرْدِ هَذَا وَبَرْدَ هَذَا بِحَرِّ هَذَا " .
Translation
Saʿid ibn Nasir narrated to us: Abu Usamah narrated to us: Hisham ibn ʿUrwah narrated to us, from his father, from ʿAishah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to eat melon with fresh dates, saying: “We balance the heat of this with the coolness of that, and the coolness of that with the heat of this.”
