Sunan Abi Dawud
Sunan Abi Dawud 3752
Qutaybah ibn Saʿid narrated to us: al-Layth narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, from ʿUqbah ibn ʿAmir, who said: We said, “Messenger of Allah, you send us out, and we stay with people who do not provide us hospitality. What do you think?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: “If you stay with people and they provide you with what is proper for a guest, accept it. If they do not, take from them the guest due that they ought to provide.” Abu Dawud said: This is evidence that a man may take something when it is rightfully due to him.
