Sunan Abi Dawud 3755
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ، عَنْ سَفِينَةَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، أَضَافَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لَوْ دَعَوْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا . فَدَعَوْهُ فَجَاءَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى عِضَادَتَىِ الْبَابِ فَرَأَى الْقِرَامَ قَدْ ضُرِبَ بِهِ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لِعَلِيٍّ الْحَقْهُ فَانْظُرْ مَا رَجَعَهُ . فَتَبِعْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا رَدَّكَ فَقَالَ " إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي أَوْ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا " .
Musa ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us: Hammad informed us, from Saʿid ibn Jumhan, from Safinah Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman: A man hosted ʿAli ibn Abi Talib and prepared food for him. Fatimah said, “If only we invited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to eat with us.” They invited him, and he came and placed his hands on the two sides of the doorway. He saw a patterned curtain hanging in one part of the house, so he turned back. Fatimah said to ʿAli, “Go after him and find out what made him turn back.” I followed him and said, “Messenger of Allah, what made you turn back?” He replied: “It is not for me, nor for a prophet, to enter a decorated house.”
