Translation

Musaddad narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us: ʿUthman ibn Hakim narrated to us: my grandmother al-Rabab narrated to me, saying: I heard Sahl ibn Hunayf say: We passed by a stream. I went in and bathed in it, then came out feverish. This was reported to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: “Tell Abu Thabit to seek refuge in Allah.” She said: I asked, “My master, are incantations beneficial?” He replied: “There is no incantation except for the evil eye, a venomous sting, or a bite.” Abu Dawud said: Humah means a snake bite or the sting of something venomous.
