Entering The Area In Which One Relieves Oneself With A Ring Upon Which Allah's Name Is Engraved Sunan Abi Dawud 19
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْحَنَفِيِّ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلمإِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ وَضَعَ خَاتَمَهُ .قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ وَإِنَّمَا يُعْرَفُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ ثُمَّ أَلْقَاهُ . وَالْوَهَمُ فِيهِ مِنْ هَمَّامٍ وَلَمْ يَرْوِهِ إِلاَّ هَمَّامٌ
Translation
Narrated Anas ibn Malik
Nasr ibn Ali narrated to us, from Abu Ali al-Hanafi, from Hammam, from Ibn Jurayj, from al-Zuhri, from Anas, who said: When the Prophet (ﷺ) entered the privy, he would remove his ring.
Abu Dawud said: This is a munkar (rejected) hadith. It is only known to be reported from Ibn Jurayj, from Ziyad ibn Sa'd, from al-Zuhri, from Anas, that the Prophet (ﷺ) had a silver ring made, and then cast it away. The error in this hadith originated from Hammam, and no one narrated it except Hammam.
