Performing Ghusl For The Friday Prayer
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ مَكْحُولاً عَنْ هَذَا الْقَوْلِ، " غَسَّلَ وَاغْتَسَلَ " . فَقَالَغَسَّلَ رَأْسَهُ وَغَسَلَ جَسَدَهُ .
Translation
Makhul was asked about the meaning of words ghassala and ightasala (that occur in tradition 345) and he said
Mahmud ibn Khalid al-Dimashqi narrated to us: Marwan informed us: Ali ibn Hawshab narrated to us, saying: I asked Makhul about this statement: "Ghasala wa ightasala" (He washed and performed ghusl). He said: He washed his head and he washed his body.
