Performing Ghusl For The Friday Prayer
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ سُمَىٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ السَّمَّانِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ "مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ غُسْلَ الْجَنَابَةِ ثُمَّ رَاحَ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ بَدَنَةً وَمَنْ رَاحَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ بَقَرَةً وَمَنْ رَاحَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ كَبْشًا أَقْرَنَ وَمَنْ رَاحَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الرَّابِعَةِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ دَجَاجَةً وَمَنْ رَاحَ فِي السَّاعَةِ الْخَامِسَةِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَرَّبَ بَيْضَةً فَإِذَا خَرَجَ الإِمَامُ حَضَرَتِ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ يَسْتَمِعُونَ الذِّكْرَ "
Translation
Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying
Abdullah ibn Maslamah narrated to us, from Malik, from Sumayy, from Abu Salih al-Samman, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever performs ghusl on Friday like the ghusl of janabah, then sets out, it is as if he sacrificed a camel. Whoever sets out in the second hour, it is as if he sacrificed a cow. Whoever sets out in the third hour, it is as if he sacrificed a horned ram. Whoever sets out in the fourth hour, it is as if he sacrificed a chicken. And whoever sets out in the fifth hour, it is as if he sacrificed an egg. Then, when the Imam comes out, the angels attend to listen to the remembrance."
