Ibrahim bin Musa al-Razi narrated to us: Isa bin Yunus informed us, from Thawr, from al-Husayn al-Hubrani, from Abu Sa'id, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "Whoever applies collyrium (kohl) should do so an odd number of times. Whoever does that has done well, and whoever does not, there is no blame. Whoever cleanses himself with stones (istijmar) should do so an odd number of times. Whoever does that has done well, and whoever does not, there is no blame. Whoever eats, whatever he removes with a toothpick let him spit out, and whatever he cleans with his tongue let him swallow. Whoever does that has done well, and whoever does not, there is no blame. And whoever goes to relieve himself let him conceal himself; and if he finds nothing except to gather a mound of sand, let him turn his back to it, for Shaytan plays with the sitting areas of the children of Adam. Whoever does that has done well, and whoever does not, there is no blame."
Abu Dawud said: Abu Asim narrated it from Thawr, and said: Al-Husayn al-Himyari. And Abd al-Malik bin al-Sabbah narrated it from Thawr, and mentioned: Abu Sa'id al-Khayr.
Abu Dawud said: Abu Sa'id al-Khayr is one of the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
