The Manner of The Prophet's Wudu'
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ شَقِيقِ بْنِ جَمْرَةَ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلاَثًا ثَلاَثًا وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ قَالَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَعَلَ هَذَا .قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ رَوَاهُ وَكِيعٌ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ تَوَضَّأَ ثَلاَثًا فَقَطْ
Translation
Shaqiq b. Salamah said
Harun bin Abdullah narrated to us, Yahya bin Adam narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Amir bin Shaqiq bin Jamrah, from Shaqiq bin Salamah, who said: I saw 'Uthman bin 'Affan wash his forearms three times each, and wipe his head three times. Then he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and be upon him, do this.' Abu Dawud said: Waki' narrated it from Isra'il and said: 'He performed ablution three times only.'
