حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، يَذْكُرُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي رَكْبِهِ وَمَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ فَخَرَجَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ فَتَلَقَّيْتُهُ بِالإِدَاوَةِ فَأَفْرَغْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُخْرِجَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ مِنْ صُوفٍ مِنْ جِبَابِ الرُّومِ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ فَضَاقَتْ فَادَّرَعَهُمَا ادِّرَاعًا ثُمَّ أَهْوَيْتُ إِلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ لأَنْزِعَهُمَا فَقَالَ لِي ‏"‏دَعِ الْخُفَّيْنِ فَإِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُ الْقَدَمَيْنِ الْخُفَّيْنِ وَهُمَا طَاهِرَتَانِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهِمَا ‏.‏قَالَ أَبِي قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ شَهِدَ لِي عُرْوَةُ عَلَى أَبِيهِ وَشَهِدَ أَبُوهُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏

‘Urwah b. al-Mughirah reported his father as saying

Musaddad narrated to us: 'Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from al-Sha'bi, who said: I heard 'Urwah ibn al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah narrating from his father, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey, and I had a water-skin with me. He went out to relieve himself, then he returned, and I met him with the water-skin. I poured water over him, and he washed his hands and his face. Then he wanted to bring out his forearms, but he was wearing a woolen cloak of Syrian make with tight sleeves, so it became tight, and he pulled them out from underneath. Then I reached down towards his leather socks to take them off, and he said to me: "Leave the leather socks, for I inserted the feet into them while they were pure." Then he wiped over them. My father said: Al-Sha'bi said: 'Urwah testified to me concerning his father, and his father testified concerning the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
