حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَدَاوُدُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ أُقِيمَتْ صَلاَةُ الْعِشَاءِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي حَاجَةً ‏.‏فَقَامَ يُنَاجِيهِ حَتَّى نَعَسَ الْقَوْمُ أَوْ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِهِمْ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ وُضُوءًا ‏.‏

Anas b. Malik reported

Musa bin Ismail and Dawud bin Shabib said: Hammad bin Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit al-Bunani, that Anas bin Malik said: The Iqamah for the Isha prayer was called, and a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have a need. So he stood speaking quietly with him until the people, or some of the people, dozed off. Then he led them in prayer, and he did not mention ablution.
