حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، - رضى الله عنه - أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ لَهُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الرَّجُلِ إِذَا دَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَخَرَجَ مِنْهُ الْمَذْىُ مَاذَا عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّ عِنْدِي ابْنَتَهُ وَأَنَا أَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ ‏.‏ قَالَ الْمِقْدَادُ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ ‏"‏إِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَنْضَحْ فَرْجَهُ وَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad

Abdullah ibn Maslamah narrated to us from Malik, from Abu an-Najl, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad, that Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, ordered him to ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about a man who, when he draws close to his wife, pre-seminal fluid (madhy) comes out from him—what should he do about it? For I have his daughter [as my wife] and I feel too shy to ask him directly. Al-Miqdad said: So I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about that, and he said: "When any of you experiences that, let him wash his private part and perform ablution for prayer as he normally does.">
