Ubayy b. Ka’b reported
Ahmad bin Salih narrated to us: Ibn Wahb narrated to us: 'Amr—meaning Ibn al-Harith—informed me, from Ibn Shihab: Someone whose satisfaction I trust informed me that Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi informed him thatUbayy bin Ka'b informed him that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) only made that a concession for the people in the early days of Islam due to the scarcity of clothes. Then he commanded to take a bath and prohibited that.
Abu Dawud said: Meaning, "Water is from water."
