حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الْبَزَّازُ الرَّازِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُبَشِّرٌ الْحَلَبِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ أَبِي غَسَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أُبَىُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ، أَنَّ الْفُتْيَا الَّتِي، كَانُوا يُفْتُونَ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ كَانَتْرُخْصَةً رَخَّصَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي بَدْءِ الإِسْلاَمِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالاِغْتِسَالِ بَعْدُ ‏.‏

Ubayy b. Ka’b said

Muhammad bin Mihran al-Bazzaz al-Razi narrated to us: Mubashshir al-Halabi narrated to us, from Muhammad Abu Ghassan, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl bin Sa'd: Ubayy bin Ka'b narrated to me that the legal opinion which they used to give was that water is from water; this was a concession which the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, granted at the beginning of Islam, but then he commanded to perform ghusl afterwards.
