Musaddad ibn Musarhad narrated to us: 'Abd Allah ibn Dawud narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Salim, from Kurayb: Ibn 'Abbas narrated to us, from his maternal aunt Maymunah, who said: I placed water for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to perform ghusl from janabah. He tilted the vessel over his right hand and washed it twice or thrice, then poured water over his private part and washed it with his left hand. Then he struck his hand against the earth and washed it, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water up into his nose, and washed his face and hands. Then he poured water over his head and body, then stepped aside and washed his feet. I offered him the towel, but he did not take it and began shaking the water off his body. I mentioned that to Ibrahim, and he said: They did not see any harm in using a towel, but they disliked making it a habit.
Abu Dawud said: Musaddad said: I said to 'Abd Allah ibn Dawud: They used to dislike it out of habit? He replied: It is thus, but I found it in my book like this.
