Dhul-Zawa’id reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage. The Prophet was commanding and prohibiting the people, then said: ‘O Allah, have I conveyed the message?’ They replied, ‘Yes.’ He then said: ‘When Quraysh fiercely contend among themselves over sovereignty, and grants become bribery, leave them.’ When people asked who had narrated this, they were told: ‘This is Dhul-Zawa’id, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’
