Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، بِهَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ قَالَ وَهُمَا - يَعْنِي عَلِيًّا وَالْعَبَّاسَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - يَخْتَصِمَانِ فِيمَا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ مِنْ أَمْوَالِ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لاَ يُوقِعَ عَلَيْهِ اسْمَ قَسْمٍ .
Translation
Muhammad ibn ‘Ubayd reported this account from Malik ibn Aws. He said that ‘Ali and al-‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, were disputing over the property of Banu al-Nadir that Allah had granted to His Messenger ﷺ. Abu Dawud said: ‘“Umar intended not to apply to it the designation of a division.”’
