Said ibn al-Musayyab reported that the Messenger of Allah conquered part of Khaybar by force. Abu Dawud said that this report was read to al-Harith ibn Miskin while he was present. Ibn Wahb said Malik told him, from Ibn Shihab, that part of Khaybar was conquered by force and part by treaty; most of al-Kutaybah was taken by force, with a portion by treaty. Malik was asked what al-Kutaybah was, and replied: the land of Khaybar, containing forty thousand palm clusters.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic gives forty thousand palm clusters, not merely trees.
