‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid narrated to us, saying: Sa‘id ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to me, saying: Bakr ibn ‘Amr narrated to me, from Abu ‘Uthman Muslim ibn Yasar, from Abu Hurayra, who said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: ‘Whoever attributes to me words I did not say, let him take his seat in the Fire. If a Muslim brother consults someone and that person advises him without sound judgment, he has betrayed him. Whoever is given a legal ruling without a firm basis, its sin is upon the one who gave it.’

The Arabic has the brother consult him, then he gives advice to the brother; the suffixes require tracking the adviser and advisee across the clause.
Confirm the antecedents and roles in this sequence.
The source uses a passive verb and ثَبْتٍ, which can mean reliable confirmation or firm evidence; the witness instead makes the giver the subject of the first clause.
Review the passive construction and the most suitable rendering of ثَبْتٍ.
