حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ مَوْلَى أَنَسٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَشَدَّ حَيَاءً مِنَ الْعَذْرَاءِ فِي خِدْرِهَا، وَكَانَ إِذَا كَرِهَ شَيْئًا عَرَفْنَاهُ فِي وَجْهِهِ.

‘Ali ibn al-Ja‘d related to us: Shu‘bah informed us, from Qatadah, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Ubayd Allah, the client of Anas, who said: I heard Abu Sa‘id say: The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, was more modest than a virgin in her private chamber. When he disliked something, we could recognize it on his face.
