Musa ibn Bahr narrated to us; he said: ‘Ali ibn Hashim ibn al-Barid narrated to us; he said: Salih, the seller of garments, narrated to us, from his grandmother, who said: I saw ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, buy dates for a dirham and carry them in his wrap. I said to him—or a man said to him—“Let me carry them for you, Commander of the Faithful.” He replied, “No. The father of a family has greater right to carry them.”

The Arabic says dates (tamr); the English witness has “fates,” apparently a typographical error.
Should “dates” replace the witness’s typo?
