Musaddad narrated to us, saying: Yahya narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ‘Urwa, who said: My father narrated to me that Abu Murawih al-Ghifari informed him that Abu Dharr informed him that he asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ‘Which deed is best?’ He replied, ‘Belief in Allah and striving in His path.’ He asked, ‘Which slaves are best?’ He replied, ‘Those whose price is highest and who are most valued by their owners.’ He asked, ‘What do you think if I do not do that?’ He replied, ‘Help someone who is lost or neglected, or do something for someone who is inept.’ He asked, ‘What do you think if I do not do that?’ He replied, ‘Keep people safe from evil; that is charity that you give on your own behalf.’

  • تُعِينُ ضَائِعًا، أَوْ تَصْنَعُ لأَخْرَقَ،

The two descriptions can denote a person who is helpless/neglected and one lacking skill; the exact nuance of ضائع and أخرق is context-sensitive.

Review the rendering of ضائعًا and أخرق against relevant lexical usage.
