حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: شَهِدَ عِنْدِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ فِي حَائِطٍ عَلَى قُفِّ الْبِئْرِ، مُدَلِّيًا رِجْلَيْهِ فِي الْبِئْرِ.

Isma‘il related to us: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Zinad related to me, from his father, who said: Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman testified before me, having been informed by ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Nafi‘ ibn ‘Abd al-Harith al-Khuza‘i, that Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari had informed him that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was in a walled garden, seated on the rim of a well with his feet hanging into it.
