Mu‘adh ibn Fadalah related to us: Hisham al-Dastawa’i related to us, from Yahya—meaning Ibn Abi Kathir—from Abu Salamah, who said: Rabi‘ah ibn Ka‘b related to me: I used to spend the night by the Prophet’s door, Allah bless him and grant him peace, and bring him water for ablution. He said: Deep into the night I would hear him say, ‘Allah hears whoever praises Him,’ and deep into the night I would hear him say, ‘Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.’
