Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

‘Arim related to us: Hammad ibn Salamah related to us: Habib al-Mu‘allim related to us, from ‘Ata’ ibn Abi Rabah, from Jabir, from the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: ‘Keep your children close until the darkness—or the onset—of evening has passed, at the time when the devils go abroad.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source preserves two readings, فحمة (deep darkness) or فورة (surge/onset), so both are reflected in the translation.

  • حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ، أَوْ فَوْرَةُ، الْعِشَاءِ

The source explicitly records two variant readings for the time period: فحمة or فورة العشاء.

Should the final English follow one reading or preserve both as in this source?
