The Prophet (ﷺ) said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind."

Commentary (Sharh)

This noble hadith establishes the fundamental condition of complete faith (iman), which necessitates loving the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) above all worldly attachments. This love is not merely emotional but requires following his Sunnah, prioritizing his teachings, and defending his honor.

The specification of father, children, and all mankind demonstrates that no natural human affection should surpass one's devotion to the Messenger of Allah. This hierarchy of love does not negate proper treatment of family and humanity, but rather ensures that divine guidance takes precedence over personal inclinations.

Scholars explain that such love is achieved through studying the Prophet's biography, implementing his traditions, frequently sending blessings upon him, and cultivating admiration for his perfect character. When this love becomes the driving force in a believer's life, it transforms their actions into acts of worship and brings their faith to perfection.
