Sahih al-Bukhari 5762
ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Hishām ibn Yūsuf narrated to us: Maʿmar informed us, from al-Zuhrī, from Yaḥyā ibn ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, from ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: “People asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about soothsayers. He said, ‘They are nothing.’ They said, ‘Messenger of Allah, sometimes they tell us something that turns out to be true.’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘That is a word of truth that a jinn snatches and whispers into the ear of its associate, then they mix a hundred lies with it.’”
ʿAlī said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq said, “It is a disconnected report: ‘A word of truth.’” Then I later learned that he had connected its chain.
