حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ،، وَكَانَ، رِفَاعَةُ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ، وَكَانَ رَافِعٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَقَبَةِ، فَكَانَ يَقُولُ لاِبْنِهِ مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنِّي شَهِدْتُ بَدْرًا بِالْعَقَبَةِ قَالَ سَأَلَ جِبْرِيلُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏ بِهَذَا ‏.‏

Translation

Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us: Hammad narrated to us, from Yahya, from Muʿadh ibn Rifaʿa ibn Rafiʿ. Rifaʿa had been among the people of Badr, and Rafiʿ had been among the people of al-ʿAqaba. Rafiʿ used to say to his son, “It would not please me to have witnessed Badr in place of al-ʿAqaba.” He said: Gabriel asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, in the same way.
