Sahih al-Bukhari 3957
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي أَصْحَابُ، مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا عِدَّةَ أَصْحَابِ طَالُوتَ الَّذِينَ جَازُوا مَعَهُ النَّهَرَ، بِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ وَثَلاَثَمِائَةٍ. قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ لاَ وَاللَّهِ مَا جَاوَزَ مَعَهُ النَّهَرَ إِلاَّ مُؤْمِنٌ.

Amr ibn Khalid narrated to us: Zuhayr narrated to us: Abu Ishaq narrated to us. He said: I heard al-Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) say: “Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) who attended Badr told me that they were as numerous as the companions of Talut who crossed the river with him: a little over three hundred and ten.” Al-Bara said: “No, by Allah, none crossed the river with him except a believer.”
