Ibn Numayr narrated to us: Abu Usama narrated to us: Ismail narrated to us: Qays informed us, from Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to Abu Jahl while he was breathing his last on the day of Badr. Abu Jahl said, “Is there any man more distinguished than one you have killed?”
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The report fragment ends after Abu Jahl’s question. The comparative phrase aʿmadu is obscure in this compressed context; it is rendered literally as “more distinguished.”
