Sahih al-Bukhari 3106
Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ، وَكَتَبَ لَهُ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ وَخَتَمَهُ، وَكَانَ نَقْشُ الْخَاتَمِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولُ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهِ سَطْرٌ.
Translation
Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Ansari said: My father told me, from Thumama, from Anas, that when Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was appointed caliph, he sent him to Bahrain, wrote this document for him, and sealed it. The seal’s inscription was three lines: “Muhammad” on one line, “Messenger” on one line, and “Allah” on one line.
