حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لاَ فَرَعَ وَلاَ عَتِيرَةَ " . وَالْفَرَعُ أَوَّلُ النِّتَاجِ، كَانُوا يَذْبَحُونَهُ لَطِوَاغِيتِهِمْ، وَالْعَتِيرَةُ فِي رَجَبٍ.
Translation
ʿAbān narrated to us: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Maʿmar informed us: al-Zuhrī informed us, from Ibn al-Musayyab, from Abū Hurayrah (may God be pleased with him), from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “There is no farʿ and no ʿatīrah.” The farʿ was the first offspring; they used to slaughter it for their false gods. The ʿatīrah was [a sacrifice] in Rajab.
