Sahih al-Bukhari 2652
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ثُمَّ يَجِيءُ أَقْوَامٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ يَمِينَهُ، وَيَمِينُهُ شَهَادَتَهُ " . قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَكَانُوا يَضْرِبُونَنَا عَلَى الشَّهَادَةِ وَالْعَهْدِ.
Muhammad ibn Kathir informed us: Sufyan informed us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, from ʿAbida, from ʿAbdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then people will come whose testimony precedes their oath, and whose oath precedes their testimony.” Ibrahim said: They used to discipline us concerning testimony and pledges.
