Bulugh al-Maram 721

Its basis is in a report from Abu Hurayrah in Muslim.

The editor grades it authentic and cites Muslim 1337. Abu Hurayrah reported: The Messenger of Allah addressed us and said, “People, Allah has prescribed Hajj for you, so perform Hajj.” A man asked, “Every year, Messenger of Allah?” He remained silent until the man had asked three times. The Messenger of Allah then said, “If I had said yes, it would have become obligatory, and you would not have been able to do it.” He continued: “Leave me as long as I leave you. Those before you were destroyed by asking too many questions and disagreeing with their prophets. When I command you to do something, do as much of it as you can; and when I forbid you from something, leave it.”
