Abu Qatadah al-Ansari reported, in the story of his hunting a wild donkey while not in ihram: The Messenger of Allah said to his Companions, who were in ihram, “Did any of you tell him to hunt it or point it out to him?” They said, “No.” He said, “Then eat what remains of its meat.” The hadith is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The editor grades it authentic and cites al-Bukhari 1824 and Muslim 1196.
