Sunan Ibn Majah 3254
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زِيَادٍ الأَسَدِيُّ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ " طَعَامُ الْوَاحِدِ يَكْفِي الاِثْنَيْنِ وَطَعَامُ الاِثْنَيْنِ يَكْفِي الأَرْبَعَةَ وَطَعَامُ الأَرْبَعَةِ يَكْفِي الثَّمَانِيَةَ " .

Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Raqqī narrated to us: Yaḥyā ibn Ziyād al-Asadī narrated to us: Ibn Jurayj informed us: Abū al-Zubayr informed us, from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Food for one suffices for two, food for two suffices for four, and food for four suffices for eight.
